Mallet Locomotives of Western Europe: Narrow Gauge
by John Organ

New in stock from John Organ - Mallet Locomotives of Western Europe: Narrow Gauge.

Throughout many parts of the world, narrow gauge railways have been constructed through mountainous terrain which necessitated the use of specialised locomotives. To tackle these steeply graded and curvaceous routes, articulated locomotives of various forms have been the prime form of motive power.

Whilst Great Britain favoured the Fairlie design for its lines in North Wales and Africa was noted for its use of huge Garratt locomotives, mainland Europe adopted the Mallet locomotives for its many varied and contrasting systems.
