The Elias Quartet Concert
  • Albion Quartet - Thursday 25th May

Four outstanding players have recently formed the Albion Quartet; Tamsin Waley-Cohen, Emma Parker, Rosalind Ventris and Nathaniel Boyd. To anybody familiar with these names, this is an exciting prospect. They will play Haydn Op. 20, No.2, Dvorák's Tenth Quartet, Op.51, The Slavonic, and they are joined by Douglas Paterson for Beethoven's String Quintet in C, Op.29, The Storm.

  • The Forde Ensemble - Thursday 22nd June

In 2000 the distinguished record producer, Erik Smith, invited a group of leading string players to perform in the glorious acoustic of Forde Abbey. They have continued to come together on a regular basis since then at Forde Abbey and Cranbourne Farm to play some of the great string ensemble repertoire. This year the programme will included Mozart's C major Viola Quintet, K515 and Brahms 2nd String Sextet in G major.

  • Melvyn Tan - Thursday 20th July

In the 1980s Melvyn Tan became internationally recognised for his pioneering performances on the fortepiano, and to the public at large he was known as the elegant and brilliant performer of the Carl Davis score for BBC's Pride and Prejudice. He is now also known as one of the great interpreters of a wide range of repertoire on the modern piano, particularly Chopin and early Twentieth Century French music. His programme will include Scarlatti Sonatas, Beethoven's Op.110, a beautiful piece by Jonathan Dove and Chopin's 24 Prelude.

  • Elias Quartet - Thursday 7th September

Since their last visit here in 2010, the Elias Quartet's international reputation has continued to grow, with tours this year including the USA, Australia, Germany, Switzerland and Holland. Last year BBC Radio 3 broadcast their epic cycle of Beethoven Quartets from Wigmore Hall. Their programme will be Schubert's Quartettsatz and the Brahms A minor Quartet, concluding with Dvorák's Quartet No.14 in Ab major, Op.105.
